TIGERS VOLLEYBALL CLUB
Safe Sport
Our Promise
At Tigers Volleyball Canada, the health, dignity, and safety of everyone involved in our sport are paramount. We are committed to upholding the principles of respect, inclusion, fairness, and zero tolerance toward abuse, discrimination, harassment, or any form of maltreatment — in full alignment with Volleyball Alberta and Volleyball Canada policies.

Reporting Misconduct & Complaint Handling
We follow Volleyball Canada's Canadian Safe Sport Program (CSSP), effective April 1, 2025, with oversight by the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) under the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS)

To report concerns or incidents:
-
Report anonymously online via CCES: https://cces.ca/report-safe-sport
-
Call CCES toll-free: 1‑866‑971‑CSSP (2777) Volleyball Canada
Reports are handled with confidentiality, trauma-informed care, and fairness throughout the investigation and resolution process.

Independent Case Management
Complaints are managed impartially through CCES (formerly OSIC/Abuse-Free Sport), ensuring:
-
Independent investigation
-
Case resolution based on Volleyball Canada and provincial policies
-
Recommendations for sanctions where necessary

Our Policies & Codes of Conduct
We enforce the following key policies:
-
Code of Conduct & Ethics
-
Discipline & Complaints Policy
-
Abuse Policy
-
Screening Policy
These reflect the Pan‑Canadian policy framework adopted by both Volleyball Canada and Volleyball Alberta

Person-in-Authority (PIA) Requirements
All individuals in authority — including coaches, referees, team staff, and volunteers — must complete:
-
Criminal Record Check (CRC) via MyBackCheck (valid 3 years)
-
Safe Sport Training (SST) (e.g. via the NCCP Locker or Respect in Sport for activity leaders)
-
Annual Screening Disclosure Form (SDF)
No PIA may participate until all three requirements are cleared

Safe Interaction: “Rule of Two” / Open & Observable Environments
We adopt the Rule of Two to protect minors and vulnerable participants:
-
Always two screened and Safe Sport–trained adults present during one-on-one interactions
-
No closed-door meetings, secluded spaces, or private messaging without oversight
-
Ensure visibility and clear communication channels — especially during travel, medical care, and training sessions

Educating Our Community
All members of our volleyball community — including coaches, staff, referees, parents, guardians, and athletes — must complete the mandatory Safe Sport Training module. Offered through the Coaching Association of Canada’s Locker system, this 90‑minute eLearning course is free and satisfies federal Safe Sport education requirements since April 1, 2020.
